Day 1

Welcome to Dublin! Enjoy your first day here by exploring the city’s history and heritage. Visit Trinity College to see the famous Book of Kells, illuminated by 6th Century Monks. Then on to Dublinia, and exciting exhibitions on the Viking World and Medieval Dublin. Nearby can be found St Patrick’s Cathedral where Jonathan Swift author of Gulliver’s Travels was Dean from 1713-1745. In the afternoon enjoy a trip to fascinating Glasnevin Museum which is a wonderful introduction to the wealth of national history within the walls of Glasnevin Cemetery. This interactive visitor attraction offers a fascinating view of Ireland’s Necropolis and the many renowned figures that shaped the Ireland of today.

Day 2

Explore historic Rathfarnham in South Dublin where you can visit Rathfarnham Castle, a 16th Century Castle built as a comfortable and defensible residence for Adam Loftus, Lord Chancellor of Ireland, Archbishop of Dublin and Founder of Trinity College. Nearby St Enda’s Park consists of nearly fifty acres of parkland laid out in the 18th century. In the centre of the park is the Pearse Museum which is housed in the former home and school of Patrick Pearse, the leader of the 1916 Rising against British rule.
Return to Dublin city centre and visit the unique Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship Famine Museum, docked at Custom House Quay. This is a replica of the original ship which sailed between Ireland and North America between 1847 and 1855. Onwards to the exciting new Little Museum of Dublin, housed in a wonderful Georgian Mansion on St Stephen’s Green.

Day 3

See the Celtic Gold & Bronze treasures at the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology, then stroll along the Liffey Quays to Collins Barracks, which houses the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History’s collection of Irish crafts and costume. The ‘craic’ begins with a visit nearby to the Old Jameson Distillery where you can see how the world-famous whiskey is made, then cross the River Liffey to the Guinness Storehouse. Guinness recently celebrated its 250th birthday recently and enjoy great views of Dublin from the Gravity Bar where you can sample your complimentary pint.

Day 4

A family day out beginning with a visit to the National Wax Museum Plus which has life-size wax works of local and global celebrities. Enjoy a busy afternoon in Dublin by first seeing the history of the city at Dublin City Hall and then experiencing a typical 18th Century merchant’s home at Number Twenty Nine, a Georgian House Museum on Merrion Square. Enjoy the evening at the wonderful at the Church Bar, Restaurant & Attraction which is surely one of Dublin’s most unique venues. 

Day 5

A day of adventure! Take the DART coast rail to beautiful Dalkey Heritage Town and experience its medieval past with Living History characters at historic Dalkey Castle. Enjoy the fine pubs and restaurants at Dalkey before continuing to Killruddery House & Gardens, which is a wonderful Elizabethan-Revival mansion in Ireland dating from the 17th century. Continue by Dart to Bray and the National Sea Life Centre and see a collection of over 90 species of underwater animals.
