This award winning heritage centre is situated approximately 5 miles from Clifden - Connemara’s capital. It offers a unique insight into the history and heritage of this most beautiful part of the West. A multi-lingual audiovisual introduces the history of the area and tells the story of Dan O’Hara.
Dan’s cottage and farm has been restored and his illustrates life in Connemara before the famine. Animals on the farm include Connemara ponies, donkeys, cattle and sheep. Visitors can also step back in time a visit a Crannóg, (pre-historic lake dwelling) Ringfort and Clocahaun (early Christian Oratory).
Guided tours of the centre are available by prior appointment and are both entertaining and educational. Demonstrations of Turf Cutting, Shearing, Thatching and other activities are available. Other facilities include Craft shop with large selection of knitwear, marble, jewellery and other gifts. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Farmhouse accommodation available.

Conference & Incentive

The guided tours are both entertaining and educations offering a lively commentary on the history of Connemara and the story of Dan O’ Hara with the occasion song for good measure. Groups are taken to Dan O’ Hara’s Cottage in the tractor drawn carriage. They can view demonstrations of various activites but can also take part in the Old Days Old Ways or the Connemara Challenge - Both are ideal events for Incentive Groups or Team Building days for Corporate groups.
