The Cliffs is a Special Protected Area (SPA) under the EU birds directive 1979 and is home to Ireland's largest mainland seabirds nesting colony. The historic O'Brien's Tower (1835) stands near the highest point of the Cliffs of Moher and boats views of 5 counties on a clear day.
